FAQs
Hello, we are thrilled that you have decided to spend your vacation with us! Below we have provided some answers to many of the most popular questions we are asked about the Devine Sailing Experience.
1. How does the Devine Sailing Experience differ from other chartered yachts?
We offer a variety of all-inclusive charters in the Virgin Islands to provide you the most wonderful vacation exactly like you want it! When you board our yacht, all of the usual stresses of life (and planning a vacation) melt away because we take care of all of the work for you! Meals are prepared three times a day by our extremely talented Chef (unless you choose to add the experience of enjoying some local cuisine during your charter) and appetizers, snacks, and drinks, each and every day. The Captain and Chef will work tirelessly during your vacation to ensure your time aboard our yacht is entertaining, relaxing, and as enjoyable as possible.
You can be as hands on as you would like, or you can choose to sit back and let the crew handle all of the details of sailing. The Captain will prepare a wonderful itinerary for you but you are most welcome to adjust it to incorporate anything special that you would like to see or visit, weather and conditions permitting. You will enjoy so many wonderful experiences, adventures, and fun, with the Devine Sailing Experience, both in and on the water!
2. Do we need to be prepared to go through customs or immigration?
You are not required to go through customs and immigration when you enter into the U.S. Virgin Islands but you will be required to go through customs and immigration when you leave at the airport. When the British Virgin Islands open up again and we start to travel there, we will be required to go through customs and immigration on the yacht, but we will take care of the paperwork for you. Regardless of where we travel, it is recommended that when you are leaving the US Mainland, you should travel with a current passport that is valid for 6 months beyond your intended travel dates.
3. Will we stay within the U.S. Virgin Islands or will we cross into the British Virgin Islands?
We are happy to show our wonderful guests all the beauty and majesty that the U.S and British Virgin Islands have to offer!
4. Are there any customs issues we will have to deal with?
No, but remember, in both the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands, there are NO drugs of any kind, weapons, or any illegal activities allowed on the yacht, at any time, and there are no exceptions to this law.
5. What types of currency are accepted on the Islands?
All locations in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands accept U.S. currency and most major credit cards. VISA and Master Cards are the most widely accepted credit cards in the U.S. Virgin Islands but some locations might also accept Discover and American Express. In either case, be advised that you may want to call your credit card company to let them know that you will be traveling to the area so they can accept any charges that you make. Please be advised that not every island has a bank nor access to an ATM, so you may want to be sure to bring enough cash.
6. What kind of weather can we expect during our trip?
The weather in the Virgin Islands is some of the best on the planet, no matter what time of year you are visiting. The coldest of winter days hovers around the mid to upper seventies and the summer scorchers only hit in the upper eighties. And the water temperatures are typically between the upper seventies and eighties, meaning anytime in the Virgin Islands, is a great time for swimming, fun and frolic in the water!
7. Do you offer corporate retreats?
Yes, Devine Sailing can provide the perfect environment for a corporate retreat. Ask your CPA about tax deductions and then schedule a charter today! We can accommodate group activities for your employees, up to 10 people per yacht, so feel free to call us to discuss.
8. How many people can you accommodate?
Devine Sailing can accommodate up to 10 guests, 2 per cabin. All cabins have marine size queen beds and their own private bathroom and shower. If you would like to travel with more than 10 people, we can coordinate additional yachts that can ride tandem with us.
9. Is there a minimum number of people needed to book the yacht?
No minimum at all, just call (314) 562-2828 for more details and pricing.
10. Do you provide safe drinking water?
Devine Sailing has a water maker and an ice maker installed on board and will provide you with plenty of safe drinking water both from the filtration system on the yacht and from bottled water as well.
11. Can I use my cell phone on board?
Yes, there is cell service available in a lot of our cruising areas (but not all, depending upon our itinerary) but you should call your carrier so you can understand their roaming fees and/or the possible need to purchase an international plan.
12. Will we have access to the internet?
We will have 5 GB of WIFI onboard for your use (but it is not meant for streaming videos or movies).
13. Should I be concerned about seasickness?
The good news about sailing on a catamaran is that seasickness is less likely to occur but, if you are prone to discomfort, we suggest you plan ahead. Catamarans are designed to effortlessly sail through the water without a lot of the side to side and rise and fall motions caused by other types of boats. Additionally, there are very little noxious diesel fuel odors to irritate your senses. We also suggest that you hydrate well and avoid alcohol the day before your trip and try to get a good night’s sleep, as it will also help to prevent seasickness. If you have any concerns about seasickness, we strongly suggest contacting your doctor to prescribe some transdermal patches or other medication for you.
14. Do you have board games on board?
Yes, we have playing cards, dice, and a few board games. We also have karaoke...for those who want to show their talents!
15. Do you provide sunscreen, towels, shampoos, or other toiletries?
We have a few beach towels on board for guests but it would be best to bring at least one beach towel that you can call your own. Please also bring your own toiletries and shampoos but there is no need to bring a bath towel, hand towel, or washcloth as we provide them for you. The U.S. Virgin Islands has banned all sunblock that is not Mineral, Zinc Oxide, or Titanium Dioxide based to help save the reefs so these sunscreens are now widely available in stores and on Amazon so please bring plenty! Please do not, however, bring spray sunblock or self tanners as they tend to stain the fiberglass as well as the cushions.
16. Do you allow fishing on the yacht? If so, do we need any kind of license?
Yes, we have two trolling rods and one casting line. In U.S. Virgin Island waters there is no fishing license required, but the British Virgin Islands require a fishing license so an application, along with a photo copy of your passport, and a $45 fee would be needed to apply BEFORE you arrive.
17. Where do we fly in to get to the islands?
Book your airfare to St. Thomas, USVI (airport code STT) and then all that is needed is a quick taxi ride (approx. $15) to the marina.
18. Do you offer any music on board?
Yes, we have a Bose sound system which is linked by Bluetooth, so please bring your Bluetooth enabled devices with your playlists so you can listen to your own music while sailing the beautiful waters on board the yacht!
